2024 LIDA GREENS COUPLES LEAGUE

1) Who:

• Any interested couples – do not to be married or romantically involved.
• Can be Male-Female, Male-Male, and Female-Female.
• No requirement to attend every event.
• Can bring visiting couples / friends with 2 day advance notice.

2) When: 

• Sunday evenings on:  9 and 23 June, 7 and 21 July, 4 and 18 August, 01, 15, and 29 September.
• Meet at 1630, play starts at 1700.

3) What:

• 9 holes, no handicap, scramble format (Best Ball Format on 23 June, 21 July, 18 Aug). Scramble means after each shot (of a couple) next shot is from the best of the 2 shots. Best Ball means everybody plays their own ball and keeps an individual score; Couple score for the hole is the best individual score.  When playing scramble a couple must use a drive from every player at least once.
• Each night is its own event with winners for play each night.
• Each night will have cash awards for:
  • Closest to the pin, longest drive (Men, Women)
  • Best score for foursome
  • Best individual score on Best Ball nights (Men, Women – 23 June, 21 July, 18 Aug)
• Each night will have additional fun play additions, like:
  • Worst hole (play worst ball of foursome, as opposed to best ball)
  • Yardage tape for putts, Mulligan’s for sale – only on Best Ball nights
  • Pool cue / croquet mallet for putts
  • Play with only 3 clubs – Choose your 3, and draw your 3 at random
  • Roll dice for club to use each shot
  • etc (ideas welcome)
• Couples rotate to play with other couples each week.
• Shotgun start with 2 couples per hole.
• Weather permitting, the final night will be a “Night Golf” event with lighted golf balls and glow sticks.

4) Cost:

• Special league rate is $38.00 per couple (includes cart). Normal cost for 9 holes and cart (2 people) is $50.00.  Members pay only for cart ($6 each vs. standard $8 rate)
• Additional $3.00 per person for nightly prizes.
• Night Golf event on 24 September will have an additional cost ($10-15 per person to cover cost of balls).

5) Additional:

• Once per month have dinner (pot luck with burgers or brats provided by LGGC). Pot luck will be on the following dates:
  • 23 June, 21 July, and 18 August, 29 September.

The Annual Lake Lida Junior Golf Tournament will be held on Sunday August 11, 2024 at Lida Greens Golf Course.

All junior golfers up to the age of 17 are invited. These will be prizes for the winners. Food and refreshments available all day. Lida Greens is located four miles east of Pelican Rapids on Route 108 at Lake Lida and is an executive nine hole course rated by the Minnesota Golf Association. Registration will begin at 8 am.

Flight Two – age 12 and under – will compete in teams of two and play “Scramble”. This flight will begin play at 9 am. Winning and Runner-up teams will receive prizes.

Flight One – age 13 thru 17 – will play in teams of two and play “Best Ball”. This flight will begin play at 11 am. Winning and Runner-up teams will receive prizes. Individual scores from this flight determine those qualifying for the Championship Flight.

Championship Flight – will be individual competition between qualifiers and the defending champions from 2023. Boys compete against boys (blue tees) and girls against girls (white tees). The Championship Flight will begin play about 1pm or after Flight One completes. Trophies will be awarded to the winners and runners-up of this flight.

The boy and girl winning this flight will be the Lida Greens 2024 Junior Champions.

The cost is $35.00 per person for Flite 1, $25.00 per person for Flite 2 . You are requested to pre-register, but this is not required. Registration can be done on-line at https://www.lidagreensgolf.biz/store/  You must designate your own team, so find a good partner. Handicaps will not be used in scoring.
